What Are Lash Extensions?
Lash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, silk, or mink fibres that are carefully bonded, one by one, to your individual natural lashes using a specially formulated, medical-grade adhesive. The goal? To enhance the length, curl, fullness, and overall definition of your natural lashes.
Unlike mascara or strip lashes, lash extensions are customised to your unique eye shape, lash health, and style preference, and require no daily application. That means you can wake up every morning with effortlessly beautiful lashes already in place.
How Do They Work?
During your appointment, your lash artist will isolate one natural lash at a time and bond a single extension (or a fan of extensions, depending on your style) using precision tools and adhesive. The full application process takes between 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on the set.
As your natural lashes go through their normal growth cycle, shedding and renewing every 6–8 weeks, your extensions will shed too. Without infills or touch-ups, your entire set of lash extensions will naturally fall out within 4 to 6 weeks, leaving you with your bare lashes again.
That’s why most clients book refills every 2 to 3 weeks to keep their lashes looking full and fresh.
What Can You Customise?
Every lash set is fully personalised. Your lash artist will choose the best combination of:
Length: Typically ranges from 6mm to 16mm, depending on your natural lash length and desired look.
Curl Type: Subtle to dramatic — from J and B curls (natural lift) to D and L+ curls (bold and lifted). More on this in Lash Extension Curls Explained.
Thickness: Thinner lashes (0.03–0.07mm) for volume sets, thicker lashes (0.10–0.20mm) for classic definition.
Lash Style:
Classic – 1:1 (one extension per natural lash)
Hybrid – a mix of Classic and Volume
Volume – multiple lightweight lashes per natural lash (2D–6D)
Mega Volume – ultra-dense fans (6D–15D) for bold, high-impact looks
Why They’re So Popular
Lash extensions are loved because they:
👉 Cut your morning routine in half
👉 Eliminate the need for mascara
👉 Enhance your eyes in a natural or glam way
👉 Provide long-lasting beauty without daily maintenance
However, they’re not permanent, and that’s part of the appeal. If you decide you want to take a break, simply stop getting fills, and your extensions will naturally shed over time with no lasting damage (as long as they were applied correctly).

Lash Styles Explained
There are three core styles to choose from:
1. Classic Lashes
One extension per natural lash
Natural, clean, and mascara-like finish — great for first-timers
2. Hybrid Lashes
A mix of Classic and Volume fans
A bit more texture and fluff than Classics
3. Volume Lashes
Handmade fans of 2–6 ultra-light lashes per natural lash
Dramatic, full, and fluffy
